We avoid cotton because when it gets wet it absorbs and holds moisture which makes you cold and uncomfortable.

When you’re working in the toughest of environments, be it hot, cold, wet or dry, what you choose to wear is essential. That’s where our breathable layering system comes into its own. You can add and take off layers, depending how warm or cold you feel. So, in the cool of the early morning, you can don a Cuillin polo shirt, our Helvellyn hoodie and the Scafell jacket and when the day warms up, you can hang up your jacket and hoodie. Because we use hi-tech wicking and breathable fabrics, all our garments work together.
Another innovation is our Nevis work trouser. It’s made from 100% nylon. This is the first work-trouser ever to be made without cotton. The majority of the trouser uses a super-soft nylon which feels just like cotton and then in the high-impact areas we use Cordura, a highly durable nylon for the knee and ankle hem.
